We received an iPhone 8 from a customer, telling us that the rear camera is not working properly, and when the rear camera is turned on, it only displays a black screen. In this article, we demonstrated how to troubleshoot and repair the iPhone 8 rear camera not working properly, and hope it helps you.
Step 1 Functional test
Turn on the iPhone flashlight, it can work, so this is not a problem with the iPhone flashlight.
Turn on the iPhone front camera, the iPhone front camera works normally, so this is not a problem with the iPhone front camera.
Step 2 Troubleshooting
Through our testing, all other functions including the front camera are functioning normally. So the iPhone rear camera is not working properly is not caused by external accessories, the most likely cause of the problem is that the sensor on the rear camera connector is damaged. Next we need to disassemble the iPhone 8 and check the iPhone motherboard.
Step 3 Diagnosis
Use the phone opening tool to disassemble the iPhone 8, remove the iPhone display parts, disconnect the iPhone battery, and then remove the iPhone motherboard.
Use the Mechanic V90E multimeter to measure the rear camera interface of the iPhone. The circuit signal is 0L, which is abnormal, which means that the diode resistance of the rear camera interface is disconnected.
Step 4 Repair
Place the iPhone motherboard under the microscope, find the components connected to it, and then use the T12-D soldering station to solder the jumper. Re-measure whether the diode resistance is normal, and then reinstall the components.
Step 5 Assembly and testing
Now use a digital multimeter to measure the resistance value again, and the measured data is now normal.
Assemble the iPhone 8, turn on the iPhone, and then test the iPhone rear camera. The iPhone 8 rear camera can be turned on smoothly and the camera function works normally. The repair is complete.
